Understanding findings

This guide explains the most common findings in your Quickfix AI health report, what they mean for your computer, and how to address them.

Critical Needs immediate attention—could affect daily use
Warning Should be addressed soon—may cause issues if ignored
Info Optimization suggestions—not urgent but worth considering

Storage findings

Less than 5% storage available — Your drive is nearly full. This can cause system crashes, failed updates, and applications refusing to run. Free up space immediately.

To free space: empty Trash/Recycle Bin, delete large files (check Downloads folder), uninstall unused applications, or move files to cloud storage. On Mac, use Storage Management (Apple menu → About This Mac → Storage → Manage) for guided cleanup.

Less than 15% storage available — Running low but not critical. Address soon—it's easier to clean up proactively.

Memory findings

High memory pressure — Your system is using a lot of RAM and may be using slower disk-based swap. Close unused apps, check Activity Monitor/Task Manager for memory-hungry apps, and restart your computer.
Memory usage is high is normal during demanding tasks. It's only a concern if usage is consistently high during light work.

Battery findings

Battery condition is Poor/Failed — The battery has degraded significantly and likely needs replacement. Keep your laptop plugged in when possible and schedule a battery replacement.
Battery capacity below 80% or High cycle count — Normal aging. No immediate action needed, but consider replacement if battery life has become too short.

CPU findings

High CPU temperature — Processor running hot, which can cause throttling. Ensure vents aren't blocked, clean dust from fans, use laptop on hard surfaces, and close CPU-intensive apps you're not using.

Network findings

High latency, slow speeds, or packet loss — Try moving closer to your router, using ethernet instead of WiFi, reducing other network activity, or restarting your router. Contact your ISP if problems persist.

System findings

System uptime is high — Your computer hasn't been restarted in a while. Restarting helps apply pending updates and clear temporary memory. Weekly restarts are a good practice.
