Scan problems

Running into a problem with your scan? Don't worry—most issues are temporary and easy to fix. This page covers the most common problems and walks you through how to solve them. Good news: your diagnostic data is collected locally first, so even if uploading fails, you can retry without running the whole scan again.

Common scan issues

Most scan issues are temporary and resolve with simple troubleshooting. This guide covers the most common problems and their solutions.

Scan appears stuck

The network quality test in Advanced scans can take 15-30 seconds on its own, so allow up to 2 minutes before assuming something is wrong. If the scan truly seems stuck, click "Cancel" to stop it, then close Quickfix AI completely and reopen it to try again. If your system is under heavy load from other applications, scans may run slowly—check Activity Monitor (Mac) or Task Manager (Windows) for high CPU usage, close unnecessary applications, and wait for any intensive tasks to complete before retrying.

Session creation failed

"Failed to create session" usually means the app couldn't connect to our servers. Check your internet connection first.

Start by verifying your internet connection—try loading a webpage in your browser to confirm you're online. If you're on WiFi, try moving closer to your router or switching to a wired connection.

Corporate networks: Ensure quickfix.ai is allowed and outbound HTTPS (port 443) isn't blocked. Contact your IT department if unsure.

Rate limit errors

"Too many requests" means you've been running scans in quick succession. Wait 1-5 minutes, then try again at a normal pace.

The rate limits are generous for normal use, so this typically only happens during unusual circumstances. If you continue seeing rate limit errors during normal use, there may be something unusual about your network configuration—contact support for help.

Scan timeout

If scans time out before completing, try running a Quick scan first—they're faster and less likely to encounter timeout issues. If Quick scans work but Advanced scans timeout, the network quality test is likely the culprit. You can also try using a wired connection instead of WiFi for more stability, and disconnecting from any VPN which can cause slowdowns.

Upload failed

Your diagnostic data is collected locally first—internet is only needed to view the online report. Click "View Report" again to retry the upload. If you have many installed applications or running processes, the upload data can be large. On slow connections, this may take longer or fail entirely. You can either wait for a better connection or use Quick scan, which produces a smaller data package.
