No soundMediumNo sound on computer
What this error means
This means Quickfix AI detected that your computer is not playing audio through any output device, such as speakers, headphones, or a monitor with sound. It often appears when the volume is muted, the wrong output device is selected, or the audio service has stopped responding.
You may notice that videos, calls, games, or system alerts are silent even though the app seems to be playing normally.
Common causes
- 1The volume is muted or set too low
- 2The wrong output device is selected
- 3Headphones, speakers, or Bluetooth audio are disconnected
- 4The audio service or driver is not responding
- 5An app has exclusive control of the sound output
- 6The computer is sending audio to a monitor or docking station instead of the expected speakers
How to fix it
- Check the basics first. Make sure your speakers or headphones are turned on, plugged in securely, and not muted. On the keyboard, try the volume up keys and look for any mute indicator in the taskbar or menu bar.
- Choose the correct sound output. Open your sound settings and confirm that the right device is selected. If you use Bluetooth headphones or an external monitor, make sure the computer is sending audio to that device instead of internal speakers.
- Test with a different app or sound. Try playing a video, music file, or system sound. If only one app is silent, close and reopen that app, then check its in-app volume or audio settings.
- Disconnect and reconnect audio devices. Unplug wired headphones or speakers, then connect them again. If you use Bluetooth, turn Bluetooth off and back on, or disconnect and reconnect the device so the computer can pair with it again.
- Restart your computer. A restart can clear temporary audio glitches and restart the sound service on both Windows and macOS. Save your work first, then reboot and test sound again.
- Check for system and driver updates. Install any available Windows or macOS updates. On Windows, also look for audio driver updates from your computer maker or device manufacturer, because missing or outdated drivers can cause silent audio.
- Run Quickfix AI again after the restart. If the problem continues, run another scan so Quickfix AI can recheck the audio path and confirm whether the issue is with the system, a device, or a specific app.

When to seek help
Seek professional help if there is still no sound after trying another output device, restarting, and updating the system. You should also get help sooner if the problem started after a drop, liquid spill, or hardware change, or if you hear crackling, popping, or very distorted audio. Those signs can point to a speaker, port, or internal hardware issue.
