Stuck in Safe ModeMediumStuck in safe mode
What this error means
This means your Android phone keeps starting in safe mode instead of normal mode. In safe mode, Android loads only the system apps that came with the phone, which can make it look like downloaded apps are missing or not working. This usually happens after a restart, a button is held down during startup, or the phone detects a problem with an app or accessory.
Common causes
- 1A volume button is stuck or being pressed during startup
- 2A recent app or update is causing Android to boot in safe mode
- 3A case, accessory, or damaged button is interfering with normal startup
- 4The phone did not restart cleanly after a crash or low battery shutdown
How to fix it
- Restart your phone normally. Press and hold the power button, choose restart if you see it, and let the phone boot fully.
- Check the volume buttons. Make sure the volume up and volume down buttons are not stuck, dirty, or pressed by a phone case.
- Remove any case, charger, or accessory, then turn the phone off and back on again. A tight case or connected accessory can sometimes trigger safe mode during startup.
- If the phone still starts in safe mode, uninstall any app you added just before the problem began, especially launchers, cleaners, or security apps.
- Clear the cache for recently used apps that seem related to the issue. Open the app’s settings and clear cache only, not app data, unless you are sure you can sign in again.
- Install any available Android system updates. A pending update can fix startup problems that keep the phone from leaving safe mode.
- If nothing helps, back up your data and contact the phone maker or Quickfix support. The issue may be caused by a faulty button or a system problem that needs service.
Recommended fixes
Force restart your Android phone
- Press and hold the Power button (or Power + Volume Down) for about 10-20 seconds.
- The phone should vibrate and restart.
- Release the buttons once the logo appears.
Update Android
- Open Settings > System > System update (wording varies by brand).
- Install any available update.
- Keep the phone on Wi-Fi and charged during the update.
Clear an app's cache (Android)
- Open Settings > Apps and select the misbehaving app.
- Tap Storage > Clear cache.
- If problems continue, tap Clear storage / data (this signs you out of the app).
Boot Android into Safe Mode
- Press and hold the Power button.
- Touch and hold Power off until Safe mode appears, then confirm.
- If the problem disappears in Safe Mode, a downloaded app is the likely cause — uninstall recently added apps.

When to seek help
You should seek help if safe mode returns after every restart, if one of the volume buttons feels jammed or does not click normally, or if the phone recently fell, got wet, or started overheating. Also get help if the phone will not boot normally, keeps restarting, or important apps and settings remain unavailable even after you remove accessories and restart.
