Running your first scan
Last updated February 4, 2026
Running your first scan only takes a minute or two, and you'll have a complete picture of your computer's health. Quickfix AI checks your hardware, identifies potential issues, and gives you clear recommendations—all without modifying any system settings or files. Once your scan is complete, you can view your results online, share them with someone helping you troubleshoot, or save a PDF for your records.
Choosing a scan type
Quickfix AI offers two scan modes designed for different situations.
- CPU, memory, storage health
- Battery condition & cycles
- GPU & display info
- WiFi connection status
- Everything in Quick scan
- USB & Bluetooth devices
- Running processes & apps
- Network speed & quality test
The Quick scan is perfect for routine health checks or when you want a fast overview of your system's condition. The Advanced scan provides a complete picture including all peripherals, software inventory, and actual internet performance metrics. For a detailed comparison, see Quick vs Advanced scans.
Running a scan
Starting a scan is straightforward. Open Quickfix AI, choose your scan type, and click "Start Scan." You'll see live progress as the app works through each diagnostic check, showing you exactly what's being analyzed at any moment.
A Quick scan typically finishes in about 30 seconds, while an Advanced scan needs 1-2 minutes—the network quality test accounts for most of that extra time since it needs to measure actual data transfer speeds. If you need to stop a scan for any reason, click the "Cancel" button. Note that partial results aren't saved, so you'll need to start fresh if you cancel.
Viewing your results
When the scan completes, you'll see two options. Click "View Report" to open your results in a browser, where you'll find detailed analysis and can chat with the AI assistant about any issues. Alternatively, click "Copy Share Code" to get a 6-character code you can send to IT support or a technician—they can view your full report without needing access to your computer.
Your online report includes several key sections:
- Health Score: An overall rating from 0-100 based on all diagnostics
- Issue Summary: A quick overview of any problems or concerns found
- Detailed Breakdown: Individual status for each hardware component
- AI Assistant: Chat support that understands your specific system and issues
For a deeper dive into what each section means, see Understanding your report. If your scan gets stuck or fails to complete, our scan troubleshooting guide covers common issues and solutions.
